Discovery Activity #1:  What is the best means for communicating location, words or pictures?

Directions:  You will be split into teams of 4 people, each team has 2 pairs. Each pair will be given 3 Post-It Notes.  You will write a different word on each Post-It Note.  You will put one Post-It at 3 different locations within the library.  Starting at the sitting area outside the library, pair #1 will use words to record directions to the first Post-It, then record directions to the 2nd Post-It and then the 3rd.  Pair #2 will draw a picture of the location of each of the three Post-Its. You will then return back to the starting place and swap clues with your team pairs.  Pair #2 will use Pair #1’s directions to find the Post-Its and record the words on their clue sheet.  Pair #1 will use Pair #2’s pictures to find the location of their Post-its and record the words on their clue sheet.  Each team will then swap directions with another team so that all pairs can try to find the Post-Its using direction and pacing clues and picture clues. You will then answer the question at bottom of the page.
