Career Planning Strategies for Future Engineers
What skills will I need to develop in Middle/High School if I’m interested in Engineering as a career?

Math Take the highest level Math courses available in your school's curriculum.
Your objective should be to qualify for a Calculus course your Senior year.

Science Select as many physical Science courses as possible.
Select such courses as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Technology
Engineering
Take Technology/Engineering courses in electricity, power and energy, manufacturing, construction, mechanical engineering, robotics and Computer Aided Design.
Many of your courses will require creating reports that summarize data and draws conclusions from some type of activity using computer software programs.


What else will help me decide if I'm interested in Engineering?
Helpers Identify an Engineer and talk to them about their career.
Participate in schools mentoring programs and or regional competitions.
Research some of the web resources provided on this site.
